PROGRAM FOR 2010 RICKSHAW REUNION CRUISE

ON BOARD “WESTERDAM” SAILING FROM FORT LAUDERDALE

 ON JANUARY 24, 2010
 

 

In addition to the wonderful itinerary and program of this ship, we have scheduled the following activities for our group:

 

Sunday, January 24th

            12 Noon to 4 PM – HOSPITALITY DESK – Located on Main Deck 1 (Atrium) near the Shore Excursion Office. Please be sure to check in at the Hospitality Desk as soon as possible after boarding the ship. Remainder of this day on your own.

 

Monday, January 25th

            10 AM to 1 PM – WELCOME MEMBERSHIP MEETING IN Hudson Room located on Promenade Deck 3.  “GET ACQUAINTED INFORMATION FORUM” (see separate sheet for details). Remainder of this day on your own.

 

Tuesday, January 26th

            10 AM to 1 PM –  Hudson Room. A special power point presentation entitled “ONE SHANGHAI EXPERIENCE: How a WW2 Story can be Documented” by PETER NASH (Nachemstein) who came to us all the way from Australia with his wife RIEKE,  followed by questions and answers. (Please see Peter’s enclosed bio).  

RIEKE NASH, who is the Past-President of the Australian Jewish Genealogical Society, will be available for a one-on-one consultation for anyone who is interested in meeting with her regarding his or her family genealogy.

            5 PM to 6 PM – PRIVATE COCKTAIL PARTY for our group located in CROW’S NEST on Observation Deck 10 – NOTE: Please be sure to wear your name tag for admission to cocktail party.

 

Wednesday, January 27th

            ARUBA, NETHERLAND ANTILLES – Day at leisure to enjoy this beautiful island.

(Possible visit to Synagogue – To be advised)

 

Thursday, January 28th

            CURACAO, NETHERLAND ANTILLES –

            10 AM – Group visit to MIKVE ISRAEL EMANUEL SYNAGOGUE AND MUSEUM OF CURACAO. There is a $ 5.00 per person admission charge. (A short walk from pier or a 5 minute taxi ride to Synagogue). We will be met by the Spiritual Leader of the Synagogue, Hazzan Avery Tracht and the resident expert who will talk to our group about the Synagogue and its history. We will also be able to visit the adjacent museum.

Remainder of day is at leisure to enjoy this beautiful island. 

 

Friday, January 29th

            10 AM to 1 PM – Hudson Room located on Promenade Deck 3

This morning we have three very interesting presentations given by SIGMUND TOBIAS, EVELYN PIKE RUBIN and BETTY GREBENSCHIKOFF, all to be followed by questions and answers.

            5 PM – FRIDAY NIGHT SERVICE in the QUEENS LOUNGE on Lower Promenade Deck 2.

 

Saturday, January 30th

            10 AM to 1 PM – Hudson Room located on Promenade Deck 3

This morning we have a special guest speaker, TESS JOHNSTON, who came all the way from Shanghai to make a presentation entitled “A HUNDRED YEARS OF SHANGHAI’S EXPAT HISTORY” to be followed by questions and answers. (Please see her enclosed bio)

 

This evening we have requested a “FAREWELL DINNER” for our group to dine together. (Time and place to be advised)

 

Sunday, January 31st

            ARRIVAL AT FORT LAUDERDALE, FL – Say “Auf Wiedersehen” to your Shanghailander friends until the next Rickshaw Reunion!!!
